AT FIRST THERE WERE NONE

For several years I’ve wanted to change down in scale from 1:10 scale dolls and miniatures to figures about 3 inches tall, balanced on their feet, posable, able to hold items, beautifully designed, well made, not plastic-finished, enjoyable to handle, unlikely to break, easy to dress, unfussy, and British-flavoured. Lots of options have come and gone, none able to fill all the requirements.

And then, while recovering from surgery on both legs, I came across Mimi’s Little Sylvanian Town. After that it was not a surprise that some Calico Critters followed me home from ToysRUs on one of my first post-surgery outings.

To keep a tin lid on the rampant collecting possibilities of this incredibly well designed and desirable toyline, I’ve opted to stick to a winter theme: cold climate animals, snowscape diorama, icy weather accessories.
